Episode Information

The episode opens with Dean on his cell phone, desperatly calling everyone he knows, looking for Sam. He finally gets a phone call from Sam, and he quickly finds him at a hotel. Sam has blood on his clothes and hands, and has no idea where he's been or what's he's done since he disappeared.

Dean and Sam start retracing Sam's steps over the last week, and Sam begins to remember bits and pieces of what he did. After finding a bloody hand print on the window, they go outside to a garage/storage unit. Sam finds a key in his pocket, and finds it opens one of the units. Inside is a car with a bloody knife, along with a pack of cigarettes. They find a receipt to a gas station. After questioning the attendent at the gas station, Dean and Sam discover Sam stole from the station before taking off.

They go off in the same direction Sam had earlier, and Sam remembers going to a house. Inside, they find a dead man, whom they believe is a hunter. After watching a security tape, the boys discover Sam actually killed the man, a hunter named Steve Wendell. They go back to the hotel, where Sam begs Dean to kill him. After Dean refuses, Sam knocks him out and takes off in the Metallicar.

Dean wakes up the next morning, and uses the motel computer to find Sam. He head's to Duluth, where Jo is currently working at a bar. Sam gets there first however. Sam hits on her, and then he attacks her. Sam ties her up, and begins tormenting her about his dad. Dean arrives, and Sam begs Dean to kill him again. Dean refuses, then throws holy water on Sam to reveal Sam is being possessed by a demon. Sam takes off, and Dean runs after him. After Dean chases Sam out of a warehouse, Sam shoots him in the shoulder, and takes off, leaving Dean for dead.

Jo finds Dean and pulls him out of the water. She takes him back to the bar, and patches Dean up before he takes off after Sam again. He figures Sam will go after the nearest hunter, which is Bobby. When Sam arrives at Bobby's place, Bobby lets him come in and offers Sam a beer. They toast to John, and after Sam takes a swig, begins smoking and cursing. Bobby knocks him up, and ties Sam under a devils trap.

Dean arrives soon after, and Bobby and Dean attempt to exorcise the demon. However, it doesn't work. This time, the demon has locked itself into Sam, and there's no way to stop him. The demon breaks the devils trap, and starts beating up Dean. He reveals his true identity as the demon who possessed Meg, before Bobby breaks the lock the demon has on Sam. The demon leaves Sam's body, and Sam is back to normal.
